Lenny Zakatek and Gonzales

Lenny Zakatek’s first foray into the world of soul began with his own band, The Funky Fever. He’d been introduced to the Motown sound by fans during a tour of U.S. military bases and was hooked! His heart resonated with the sound. The Funky Fever supported The Drifters on a European tour and also backed Inez and Charlie Foxx.

Lenny Zakatek later became the lead singer in Gonzalez and his ‘golden voice’ gave them a massive UK Chart Hit with “I Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet “which went on become a massive Worldwide Disco Hit. This success saw them tour Europe with Bob Marley and The Wailers, KC and The Sunshine Band, and The Fat Back Band.

Described by his peers and fans alike as ‘One of the great Rock and Soul singers of his generation’ for his performances on The Alan Parsons Project songs ‘Games People Play’, ‘Damned If I Do’ and ‘I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You’, all Billboard Top 40 Hits in the USA. Lenny Zakatek was described by Todd S. Jenkins on AllAboutJazz.com  as adding ‘a funky, bluesy air’ to the Alan Parsons Project sound. Lenny Zakatek worked with The Alan Parsons Project for many years, and also performed vocals for the band at their first live concerts in the early 1990s. In 1979 Lenny Zakatek released his first solo album on A&M Records, produced and engineered by Alan Parsons.

Lenny later formed a band called The Immortals, with John Deacon (of Queen Fame). Their single ‘No Turning Back’ was on the soundtrack of the film ‘Biggles‘. In 1995, Lenny Zakatek had the honour of performing with Joni Mitchell at the Great Music Experience in Nara City, Japan, which had a Worldwide TV audience of 100 million. He shared the stage with INXS, Bon JoviBob Dylan and Tomoyasu Hotei and had the privilege of working with the legendary Michael Kamen, with whom he went on to other great projects. Lenny Zakatek later became involved in production and management, working with multimillion selling Japanese superstar’s Tomoyasu Hotei and Miki Imai.

Lenny Zakatek still performs with the ‘Same electric energy, stage presence and legendary voice’ today and can be seen regularly live with his all star band. From the heady disco days of Gonzalez, to his iconic vocals on the Platinum selling anthems of the Alan Parsons Project, Lenny Zakatek has delighted audiences all over the globe with THAT voice. Described by many as ‘The finest Rock/Soul singer UK has ever produced, known as ‘The Voice’ during his years with The Alan Parsons Project, who sold Millions of Albums.

Lenny Zakatek is now back with a vengeance with ‘Love Letters’ his first solo album release in 30 years!

A quote from Lenny Zakatek – “I always wanted to test my voice singing great love songs written and sung by artists I admired. I had saved these songs for as long as I could remember hoping no one else would cover them. I hope you like my take on the songs….. I am very proud of ‘Love Letters’.”

Lenny Zakatek has been writing, recording and performing to generations of fans spanning four decades.

Once Dubbed ‘The Voice’ he was been considered by some as an integral part to the success of the Alan Parsons Project and later soared up the charts with UK group ‘Gonzalez‘ and their classic dance hit ‘I Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet’Lenny Zakatek is back touring with his All Star Band and will be performing classic tracks from Gonzalez, The ‘Love Letters’ Album and the A.P.P. era such as ‘Games People Play’ and ‘Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You’.

All this, along with Lenny’s love of Blues and Soul creates a fantastic and inspirational night of wonderful music.
